Center for TeleHealth
The Video Intercom Communication System (VICS) installed in Mass General’s inpatient units is designed to enhance the clinician-to-patient connection via bedside tablets attached to IV poles. As a result, VICS decreases the use of PPE and reduces the risk of infection. To date, more than 12,000 interactions have been conducted across 28 units on the VICS platform. Additional services include translational services and Virtual Rounding by Microsoft Teams.
Leading up to and during the surge of COVID-19 patients in Massachusetts, the Mass General Center for TeleHealth developed and expand telehealth options to increase patient access and protect our workforce during this unprecedented time. The CIDH team is proud to recognize the innovative solutions brought forward by the TeleHealth team, under the leadership of the Center’s Director and VP for Virtual Care Services at MGB, Dr. Lee Schwamm.
